As my first SIMUN experience, I was extremely nervous when it was Tuesday. When it came down to Wednesday I was a little pumped because I had to dress up. Honestly I like to dress up because it makes me feel professional and strict business. Now after lunch was my 5th hour which is time for SIMUN. I was sweating like crazy and was extremely nervous. The first day actually went well. I gave a good speech and asked a couple of questions. I thought SIMUN was a great experience as a first time participant. I thought SIMUN was really hard in the first hour. I didn’t speak or ask questions until I learned the proper method of how to ask questions and how to ask to speak. SIMUN was just a great experience and was a lot of fun. SIJMUN is a great experience for any freshman or any new comers. This really helped my speaking skills and my organization skills.
Personally I thought I did alright for a new comer. I didn’t participate the first day as much as I did the last day. I was worried I wasn’t going to participate at all on Tuesday when we were warming up. “It’s really hard not to participate” quote by Andre Roberts. That quote was honestly true because I called myself in the Speakers list and I spoke and gave a well speech. Our mentor, Chris, helped me a lot and I thank him for that. He kept pushing me to be on the speakers list and ask more questions. But overall he kept motivating me and telling me I was doing a great job.
On Tuesday night the first task I needed to accomplish was the clothes I was going to wear on Wednesday. That was the easy part but the hard part was writing out a speech when you were called on the Speakers list. Every news flash through my speech off so I kept revising and revising until I had it right. The Scenarios weren’t too bad because they were the questions we had to answer during Spring Break. Every time we started a new Scenario I pulled out my answer to the questions and participated as much as I could.
I will have to participate much more next year because I only spoke three times. Ask more questions and now that I got use to the method I will do a better job of sounding professional. I will help any person that is struggling with the Scenario or when they are stuck with something. I will participate more in caucus time and make alliances with other nations
