Thanks By:Daniel Macias

· I give thanks to my mom for cooking food every single day. She is the best and I love her. She washes my clothes, she irons them, and she does everything around the house.
· I give thanks to god for letting me live this long. I haven’t done anything serious that could of killed me but I probably cheated death once or twice
· I give thanks to all my teachers, past and present for letting me learn all the knowledge I have till this day. If it wasn’t for them I would still be in 1st grade.
· I thank John Stith Pemberton for creating the best soft drink in which is Coca-Cola. Without it the world would be chaos.
· I thank my Dad for always being there. I love my dad because I can talk to him like I’m talking to a 15 year old.
· I give thanks to my oldest brother Mario because he always drives me around and we hangout a lot. He also bought me a really thick sweater for the winter a couple of days ago. He also inspired me to play my favorite sport basketball.
· I give thanks to my brother Edgar for being there in tough times. We always hangout, laugh, and have a good time.
· I am thankful for the founder of Red Lobster. I’m not really much a sea food kind of guy, but Red Lobster is the best when it comes to sea food.
· I give thanks to my dead fish Goldie. The reason why I’m thankful is because he/she made me realize how cool it is to have a pet for about 2 months. R.I.P Goldie, I don’t know if down the toilet is a better place.
· I give thanks to all my friends. Without them I would just be a kid going at school to learn but instead im a kid going to school trying to learn and have a good time with my friends. Love them

Old Friends, New Friends:
In ninth grade I am still friends with people from middle school. High school is very different from middle school. The school is twice as big and there is twice more people. In some classes there are some Sophomores even Juniors.
SHS Activities Attended:
I haven’t been to many activities in high school but I do play football for Stevenson High School. It’s been real fun and I’ve learned a lot from the sport. I hope in Spring I will be able to attend the track team. I heard it’s been hard since our warm up is a mile but I will be able to accomplish it.
Funniest, Weirdest, Scariest Moments:
In sixth grade I had really loose pants one day. So I decide to put on a belt and in the middle of the day the belt snapped. So I catch my pants and I had to deal with loose pants all day. It isn’t fun when you have to hold on your pants when you are walking down the hallway.
When I moved to Livonia, I didn’t know anybody. First day of school came and I felt so weird because I didn’t know anybody. So a week later I actually start to talk to people. A month later I made a whole bunch of friends.
It was Halloween and my friends invited me to this haunted house. So when we get there it was actually four trailers. It was really small, but when I was up to go inside I was terrified. Halfway through the house/ trailers I was amazed how scary it was. So I have to finish the other half of the house/trailer and when I was done I go to my friends and start to talk to them about the house/trailers.
Hardest, Easiest Class and Assignments:
8th grade Algebra was one of the hardest probably the hardest class I had. We had homework every day of the week and we had a lot of tests. Easiest class was Phys ed in eigth grade. The class wasn’t just easy it was the entertaining class I ever had. In eigth grade we had to do a huge project for history and it took me 3 days to complete when we had around 2 weeks to do it. I had to get a parent signature for an easy five points.
Top Five Current Events:
· Arty is a 4.4 million year old human/ape. She walks up straight but has the hands of monkeys.
· The Olympics are being held at Rio de Jineiro Brazil.
· Nuclear weapons at Iran.
· Swine flu vaccine made
· Philippine floods kill 140 people. Typhoon Ketsana

Faces in the News:
Sonia Sotomayor is the new and first Hispanic Chief Justice. Dmitry Medvedev is the president of Russia and he’s meeting with Hillary Clinton to talk about Iran’s weapons. Arty is a 4.4 million year old human/ape found in Ethiopia.
Interesting New Words:
· Akimbo: Outstretched arms and legs
· Paroxysm: Spasm or seizer
· Evocative: Rings a bell feeling emotion
· Globie: Global Education student
Memorable Songs:
A memorable song that I like would be “Come Together” by the Beatles, Thriller by Michael Jackson, “Enter Sandman” by Metallica. The Beatles are a band that would never be forgotten. Michael Jackson was loved by many people, theres even a movie based on him and his successful career.
Rumors and Gossip:
There aren’t that many rumors going on. There was once a rumor that I loved this girl and I wanted to ask her out. It was this year too. I wasn’t too mad about it but c’mon, you have to get mad when someone lies about you
Fads and Trends:
Well the new teen these day would be American Eagle, Hollister, Abercrombie and Fitch and Aeropostale but for the older people it would be Express, Armani Exchange, Monarchy, Lacoste, Burberry. Some people wear ripped pants and that’s actually the style these days but the tight pants are kind of taking over.
First Cultural event:
My first cultural event was on Mexico. I didn’t do a very good job on it because I am Mexican. I couldn’t think of very details to put to describe. So I think I am ready for the next cultural event which is going to be awesome.
Homecoming:
I didn’t have a chance to go to homecoming my freshman year but I will go to it my junior year. I heard it was a lot of fun by a lot of people. I also hear d a lot of after parties were better than homecoming. People went on limos, and ate dinner before going to homecoming.
Advice for a Freshman:
The BIGGEST advice for a freshman would be “don’t be late for your first hour” better yet don’t be late for any of your classes. Don’t be absent a lot in the begging of the school year or you would be so far behind. That means when it’s a hot sunny day you have to stay in and do your homework which sucks. Also study and do your homework so when you walk into your class room when you hear “POP QUIZ” you won’t freak out because you studied. Trust me on this advice, I would know
What I’m Looking Forward to…:
I’m looking forward to all the sports in Stevenson High School. Track is going to be so much fun. Also beginner weights because I love to lift weights and stay in shape. My new classes in January are going to be interesting. I am also looking forward to the Stevenson Varsity football team to win the playoffs.
Other Noteworthy Achievements or Events:
I would like to decrease my mile time from 5:59 to around 5:30. I hope to make JV football and move into Varsity. I wouldn’t like to fail any classes and not be tardy for any of them also. I would love to make the honor roll at least once this year

American Culture
American culture is everything or a better word to say it is America is very diverse. America actually does not have one specific culture, it has many. Some people like to play soccer, other people like Basketball. Everyone is different in their own ways. Let’s just say this; If you want to make salsa, it takes a lot of ingredients to make it. So if you put all the different ingredients together (cultures), you have yourself America. Many people in Christmas celebrate Christmas. Other people celebrate Hanukkah. Thanksgiving is a holiday that is celebrated in America where you give thanks and express gratitude. There is a lot of different food; Chinese, Mexican, Italian, Indian and there is more. Immigrants come from al over the world and they bring their culture with them. That’s why America is very diverse. We don’t even have an official language, but sure most people speak English but they can also speak French, Spanish, Italian, Chinese, and German but there is more. That’s my opinion for American culture.
My Culture
My culture is American but I also have Mexican culture. In Mexico most people speak Spanish but they also speak English. I play Football, Basketball and Track & Field. Hispanics play a lot of baseball and soccer which I don’t. That’s something different about me. We do celebrate 4th of July but we don’t celebrate September 16th which is Mexico’s Independence Day. We definitely celebrate Cinco de Mayo is when we gained Independence from Spain. In November first and second we celebrate something called Dia de los Muertos and it’s when people worship the dead. In December 16 there are Posadas, It’s a holiday celebrated when Joseph and Mary search for shelter in Bethlehem. We have parties every weekend and we celebrate them by visiting my all my uncles houses. This holiday starts in December 16th and ends on January 6th.
